About the Artist
Alex Durante is a working Creative Artist in New York City. Originally from New York, his work is represented by galleries in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, as well as pop up show events in the Midtown, Chelsea, and The Meatpacking District. Along with Fine Art, he studied at Pratt Institute, with a degree in Communications Design, worked as an Advertising Art Director, and assists well known fine artists currently showing work in New York City Galleries and other Fine Art Sales Events.

Signature Series
Composition II Edition
Abbreviated as C. II, this series is the center point of Alex Durante’s larger body of work. Originating from an experiment involving elements of Abstract Expressionism, the result is a representation of the elemental, visualizing principles of alchemy and human ingenuity in nature. The number/letter code prefix is the secondary naming function. “G” is short for “Gateway” as a visualization of parallel dimensions.
Resin Cast Objects
New Material Fossils
A great artist does not paint with just one brush, nor with one idea. This series of resin cast sculptures are a reference to the idea of a New Modern Fossil Record. This repeated timestamp incorporates both ancient and modern objects that have been transfixed in an effort to encapsulate the abstract concept related to its phenomenon.
Homage & Master Studies
Appropriations
Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and it’s no secret that some of the great masters reappear on the easel in Alex Durante’s studio. A number of studies have been rendered respectfully as exact replications to masterworks with subtle additions of personal touch. This recreational exercise is the strongest method to sharpening skills and expanding an artist’s reach into new mediums and concepts.
Abstract Impressionism
Color Theory & Form
This series of work does not have reason but is, in a sense, a reaction or response, similar to works by late Impressionist artists. This style is almost academic by focusing in on color theory, perspective, symmetry, and balance while still holding onto notions of the abstract. These works emphasize the power of personal interpretation by including hints to literature, mythology/folklore, and culture. Regardless of how abstract something is, finding patterns in technique and form can become the mark of transformation.
